CEO Apple, Tim Cook Visits Apple Developer Academy BSD City

BSD City, April 17, 2024 – Apple CEO Timothy Donald Cook visited the Apple Developer Academy at Green Office Park (GOP) 9 BSD City on Wednesday afternoon (17/4). Cook visited the first iOS-based application development center in Southeast Asia after attending a luncheon hosted by Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the State Palace in Central Jakarta on Wednesday morning. Cook's arrival is part of the inauguration of the fourth Apple Developer Academy in Indonesia, scheduled in Bali on April 20.

Irawan Harahap, CEO of Digital Tech Ecosystem & Development Sinar Mas Land, was honored and delighted to welcome Cook's visit. "The Apple Developer Academy is one part of the Digital Hub ecosystem, which focuses on coding training and acts as a talent pool to produce world-class application developers. The presence of the Apple Developer Academy BSD City aims to produce world-class developers from Indonesia who are capable of developing international-scale applications and contributing to the digital economy in the country."

Digital Hub is a 25.96-hectare area located in BSD City dedicated to digital ecosystems and home to technology and digital companies, startups, the creative industry, and educational institutions in the IT/coding field. As of 2024, 40 national and multinational companies have joined the Digital Hub ecosystem, including MyRepublic, NTT, NTT Data, Microsoft, Ruang Guru, and Indonesian unicorn startups Traveloka and Tokopedia.

In addition to the Apple Developer Academy, established in 2018, various non-formal IT schools with international standards are also present in the Digital Hub ecosystem, such as Purwadhika Digital Technology School, Hacktiv8, and the first foreign university in Indonesia, Monash University from Australia. Meanwhile, the creative institutions include G2G, Imajin, Social Bread, DCT Agency, and Lucy Entertainment Park. Startups like SIRCLO, GoWork, SWAP, Hologram Indonesia, V-Office, Fore, and Paper have joined the Digital Hub ecosystem.id, AMODA, JumpStart, AKAR, Waste 4 Change, and Beam. In addition, the presence of Living Lab Ventures also completes the Digital Hub ecosystem from the venture capital company side. (*)
